There are five today that really stand out to me under what we learned yesterday.
R6 #1 Diameter — 97 is the strongest example. Last start he was held up from the 400m until approaching the 50m, and today draws barrier 1. That’s exactly the sort of hidden performance that a normal form line undervalues. Racing & Sports also gives him strong underlying ratings and lists him around $5 rather than double figures, so unfortunately the market has noticed him.
R7 #4 Sea What I See — 96 is another. Last start she was restrained behind a weakening horse around the 150m and then held up through to the finish. Today she carries only 55kg. That’s another classic hidden-run profile. She was originally around $11, although more recent indexed form had her shorter around $7.50.
The two prices that particularly interest me are Treasurethe Moment in Race 5 and Athanatos in Race 9.
Treasurethe Moment has barrier 1 and 57kg, versus the males carrying 59kg. Racing & Sports’ underlying adjusted figures actually show her with figures up around 96–97, higher than Pride Of Jenni’s recent adjusted figures in that same table, yet Treasure was around $11.50
And Athanatos gets barrier 2 in Race 9 and comes in off form of 2-5-1-1 before the spell, while several of the better-known runners have wider draws. The market had him around $17
